Some of our Hamilton Civic Choir singers headed to Rotorua over Labour Weekend to be part of Sing Aotearoa 2026, New Zealand’s national choral festival. It was a fantastic opportunity to get together with singers from across the country, enjoy some great music and, of course, have plenty of fun along the way!
Saturday was a particular highlight, with a lunchtime performance at the Sir Howard Morrison Centre alongside the NZ Children’s Choral Academy, followed by the evening’s United Voices concert. As part of our 80th anniversary celebrations, we shared the stage with All Together Now, Heights Tira Waiata and Vox Aurorae, presenting a programme drawn from our choir’s rich musical tradition.
With free lunchtime concerts, a variety of evening performances and the festival’s grand celebration concert on Monday, there was plenty of music to enjoy throughout the weekend.
A lovely weekend of singing, friendship and celebrating choral music in Aotearoa. Thanks to everyone who made the trip to Rotorua and helped make it such a fun part of our 80th anniversary year!
