Untravelled Worlds

Hamilton Civic Choir is delighted to bring to you “Untravelled Worlds” – our second concert in the 2023 Concert Season of “New Horizons”.

For this concert, we are excited to be performing the Missa Pax, by Canadian composer Timothy Corlis featuring virtuosic clarinettist Stefenie Pickston and our very own collaborative pianist Chris Greenslade. Originally commissioned by the Elora Festival Singers in Ontario, we are delighted that Hamilton audiences will again be able to hear this beautiful piece of modern liturgical music, composed as a celebration of divine love as expressed by peace makers throughout the world.

During the second half of our programme we will take you with us on a journey to “Untravelled Worlds”. Our repertoire will include traditional music from as far as Korea, France and America. We will also explore Aotearoa New Zealand. Our trip will culminate in a beautiful cultural blending with Sanctus and Benedictus in Te Reo Maori written and conducted by our very own, Fergus Byett who is one of this year’s Artist Development Program (ADP) candidates. Maria Colvin Civic Choir Soprano, MD of Hamilton Tronsongsters and Waikato Dio School choirs, and one of our ADP candidates this year, will also conduct a Korean folk song “Arirang”. It speaks of  leaving and reunion, sorrow, joy and happiness.
