This Concert is now postponed due to Govt. guidelines around Covid 19 and gatherings of 100 people. We are really sad to make this call, we hope to bring this concert to you later when this crisis is over. Thank you for your understanding. The Committee- Hamilton Civic Choir March 19, 2020.

On Sunday 22 March at 2:00pm, the Hamilton Civic Choir warmly welcomes you to enjoy the 2020 version of our annual free outdoor concert at the Gardens. This concert celebrates musical highlights from the past 5 years, featuring some of the choir’s favourite short pieces.

Our musical director, Timothy Carpenter, has chosen songs that have been particularly enjoyed by both choir members and audiences, and that represent the breadth of the choir’s repertoire. There is something for everyone here, from the funky syllabic punch of Other Plans, by Australian composer Lisa Young, to Bob Chilcott’s jazzy arrangements of folk classics Scarborough Fair and Greensleeves, to the lush emotional power of tunes such as Shenandoah and Wade in the Water.  We have selected two nursery rhymes as reimagined by John Rutter from our children’s concert last year with the ‘Tron Songsters’, as well as some more traditional songs and sacred pieces. These include a setting for women’s voices of Ubi Caritas by Ola Gjeilo.

We are hoping that this year everyone, including Tim, stays dry, and that we see you there to enjoy the musical variety and excitement of a relaxed and informal Civic Choir Gardens concert.
