Experience the magic of the season at a captivating concert conducted by Elise Bradley, featuring special guest conductor Dr. Karen Grylls. This enchanting evening will showcase talented local choir soloists and instrumentalists of all kinds — strings, percussion, harp, and piano — all together creating a rich tapestry of sound.
When: Dec 14th at 7:30pm
Where: St Peter’s Cathedral, Hamilton
Highlighting the evening will be two larger works: Illuminare, a sparkling and deeply moving extended work by Elaine Hagenberg, accompanied by piano and an OCT Ensemble from Orchestras Central; and A Child Comes Forth, a collection of Christmas texts set to music by New Zealand composer David Hamilton, accompanied by percussion as well as Wellington-based harpist Michelle Velvin.
The programme will additionally include a delightful array of seasonal pieces such as O Viridissima Virga (Hildegard von Bingen), Weihnachten (Felix Mendelssohn), Riu, Riu, Chiu (Mateo Flecha), an exciting choral and multi-percussionist arrangement of Gaudete (Michael Engelhardt) that will elevate the celebratory spirit, and many more!
Join us for an evening filled with Christmas music, followed by a delightful supper, perfect for mingling with fellow music lovers, all in the stunning setting of St Peter’s Cathedral.
OPEN TO ALL — Come early at 6:45 PM and sing carols with us to get into the Christmas spirit! Meet us in the cathedral’s fellowship hall before the concert for some caroling and cheerful camaraderie. See you there!
