Timothy Carpenter – New Musical Director

Timothy Carpenter has accepted the position of Music Director for  Hamilton Civic Choir  for one year.

View More: is emerging as one of New Zealand’s most active and promising young conductors, working and having worked with several amateur and professional ensembles.

He has participated in conducting master classes in the United States, Europe and Australia and conducted orchestras including the Auckland Philharmonic, Melbourne Symphony, Western Australia Symphony, Tasmanian Symphony and New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.

He has been the Assistant Director of Bach Musica during 2014, and works at St Kentigern College as Director of the Symphony programme.

He will continue to work with Bach Musica during this year and will rehearse both them and Civic Choir for the Verdi “Requiem” performance in October.

Timothy holds a Bachelor of Music majoring in Performance Cello from the University of Waikato, a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music Diploma in Cello with Distinction .

In 2014 he completed an Honours degree majoring in performance organ and conducting from the University of Auckland.

This year he is studying towards a Masters in orchestral conducting at the University of Auckland. He hopes to pursue this line of study further in Germany.
